If I have an object that occurs on every page (say a footer) and I want to arrange it to be above other objects, is there some way I can arrange it once and have that arrangement carry through to every page? I’d hate to have to manually adjust many pages. Thanks.
Yes, but you will need to have it grouped (the elements making up the footer) so you can have it set Visibility / Show On All Pages.
This is not the case for individual elements. These you will need to individually arrange per page.
I do have all the elements of the footer grouped. I tried moving the footer to the top of the arrangement stack on one page, and it did move it on some of the pages, but not others. Weird. There must be a way to make sure it moves on every page. I’d hate to have to move it manually on hundreds of pages.
If you’ve grouped all the footer items, or wrapped them in a layout block, just go over to the Arrange inspector and set the options shown below. This will place the footer on every page and will ensure that it sticks to the page bottom.
Gary, go to the footer group on the home page and select ‘show on this page only’. Then move the group to the top of the stack in the layers panel (or maybe just under the header perhaps) and then re-select ‘show on all all pages’. That should do it.
That’s a great idea, but I couldn’t make it work. I’m not just worried about the footer, but any new object.
If I add a new object, a box say, it automatically puts it at the top of the stack. If I move it down the stack and then select “show on all pages,” it shows up at the top of the stack on every other page.
Is there some way around this? Thanks.
Gary, I think I wasn’t clear enough. Try this…
Go to a page you want to add things to. Add them. They will likely be on top of the footer when you add them. On that same page, make the footer show only on that page from the arrange menu. Then move the footer to the top of the layers panel so that it is on top of everything else. Then select show on all pages from the arrange menu again. Your footer will now be on top of all pages.
With Sparkle as it is at the moment, you will have to do that each time to the page you are working on. Once you have switched back on the ‘show on all pages’ button, it will flow through the document. I hope that helps for now.
