Is it possible to "lock" objects at the top of the layer stack?

Every time I add an element to a page it automatically goes to the top of the stack of layers. But I have a header that I want to always be on top of everything else. Is it possible to “lock” the header at the top of the stack so that any new objects that get added to the page automatically go underneath the header? Thanks.

Hello @Gary :wave:t2:

As of now, it is not possible to lock an element at the top of the layers list. However, if you use layout blocks, you won’t need to move the header block up each time you add a new element:

When you work within a layout block (after clicking on it), any new element you add will automatically be placed inside that block. As a result, the layer of the new element will appear at the top of the list of elements within the layout block, rather than at the top of the overall layers list.

By doing so, only new layout blocks and popups will need to be moved in the layers list when they are created.

I hope this will help you.

Thanks! I’ll look into that.

I have a similar issue keeping a hamburger menu on top of all other layers. It’s a drag, having to go back and check every page’s menu icon and use the Arrange menu to move it to the Front. I wish this could just automatically be on top where it needs to be!

@Allan has given a good solution to this issue and one that works really well!

I guess for some of us that don’t use Layout Blocks this is an annoying issue. It would be great in the near future that Sparkle would acknowledge a Group or a Block called “navigation” the option to lock it into the “Mt Everest position”…
