Issues with multiple menus

I want to have 2 menus on my home page:-

  1. this refers to the site pages and is repeated on each page
    This worked fine and doesn’t appear to have any issues as below
  2. this contains links to external sites
    I can create this and it will work, but
    as soon as I edit it in any way, it stops working and the only way to fix it is to delete and start again and repeat the cycle
    Help - what am I missing?
