that is not possible for content, a wide box can only have the background picture lapped over the layout grid.

This is a serious limitation that needs to be corrected. Too bad it was not included in 4.0.
You can build your own ultra wide device 
The size of the largest two devices can be customized by clicking on the size label, the content will be scaled to the newly entered size.

It would be a nice feature to have, pin element, but it is not a limitation to using Sparkle.
Web design fits into two camps… 1. Responsive Fixed Width which is how Sparkle works, and 2. Responsive Fluid Width which is like your Webflow, etc…
Agree @FlaminFig, I was never a fan of fluid so fixed width is my thing. Responsive is different and I love that.
