Sparkle can’t be updated if it’s running from the location it was downloaded to

Hi! I am still using Sparkle Pro 4.0.5. Every time I open the app the FREE UPDATE gets announced as available. When I click on “Update” I get the following message “Sparkle can’t be updated if it’s running from the location it was downloaded to.”
Does this mean I have to install Sparkle on an external device and run it from there? Can´t imagine that to be the solution …
When I open the app, go to the Sparkle Menu and choose “Your license” or “Check for Updates” my only option seems to be to “Deactivate this computer” This also does not sound right …
Feeling a bit stupid and appreciate your help as I´d love to be updated - Big thanks !!

It sounds like you have Sparkle running in your download folder. If so you will need to drag it to your Applications folder where all your other applications reside.

I installed it directly into the App folder. Will uninstall and try again with a fresh download… Thank you so much for your reply :blush:
