Has anyone had a problem with italic font when designing for different devices?

Without more detail it is hard to answer your question.
The simple answer is no. One possibility is that you have not selected “Synchronise text attributes across devices” as shown below:
Rarely, a font does not have an italic typeface defined. For example EB Garamond only has the roman (regular) face.
