Hello. Is it better to purchase your coding license and input the Mailchimp code direct into the header? The reason I ask this is when I copy and paste the Mailchimp code into an embed file in the popup it does not look good on the website, that is the content is not aligned correctly.

No there is no need to purchase the code license to embed your MailChimp newsletter signup form.
I looks like you are missing the CSS component which links back to the MailChimp server. Should be something like this… <link href="//cdn-images.mailchimp.com/embedcode/classic-066700.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">
If you know a bit of CSS you can even add that to style the newsletter form to the branding colours like what I have done here…
